ISLAMABAD, May 30, 2014: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly discussed health-related issues and took up two calling attention notices during the second sitting of 13th session on Friday, says Free and Fair Election Network in its Daily Factsheet.
Seven lawmakers, including a minister, spoke on the subject for an hour and 21 minutes. The calling attention notices (CANs) were related to the GP fund of provincial government employees and Pahoor Extension Irrigation Project. The relevant ministers responded to the notices.
A PTI lawmaker, on behalf of the Finance Minister, introduced the KP Civil Servants Retirement Benefits Compensation Bill, 2014. The House took up all of 19 starred questions (requiring oral as well as written replies). However, only 15 of these were responded to by the relevant departments while the rest of them were disposed of due to the absence of movers. The members asked 19 supplementary questions as well.
The lawmakers raised three points of order consuming 10 minutes of the proceedings.
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings:
- The KP Assembly met for five hours and five minutes, taking a break of two hours and 54 minutes.
- The sitting started at 1540 hours against the scheduled time of 1500 hours, witnessing a delay of 40 minutes.
- The Speaker chaired the entire sitting while the Deputy Speaker was absent.
- The Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition were absent.
- The parliamentary leaders of AJIP, ANP, PML-N and QWP attended the proceedings.
- Thirty-two members were present at the outset, 10 at the adjournment while a maximum of 65 were there during a point of the proceedings.
- Three minority members attended the sitting.
- Eight members applied for leave.
