Islamabad, November 06, 2015: Starting 45 minutes behind the schedule, the Balochistan Assembly adopted one resolution and took up two questions appearing on the list of business, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) on Friday.
A joint resolution adopted by the House was about withdrawal of sales tax on coal business. On behalf of Advisor to CM for Finance, Minister for Services & General Administration Department (S & GAD) presented bi-annual Monitoring report of the National Finance Commission for the period of January to June 2014.
Following are some key observations of the assembly proceedings:
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings
- The Balochistan Assembly met for an hour and 55 minutes
- The sitting started at 1645 hours against the scheduled time of 1600 hours
- Twenty-eight (43%) lawmakers were present at the start and 21 (32%) at the end of the sitting
- A maximum of 35 (54%) members attended the sitting
- The Deputy Speaker chaired the entire sitting
- The Chief Minister attended the sitting for 65 minutes
- The Opposition Leader was present for entire time
- Parliamentary leaders of PML-N, JUI-F, PML, MWM and ANP attended the sitting
- One minority member attended the sitting
- Nine members applied for leave
Outputs
- The House adopted a joint resolution regarding withdrawal of sales tax on coal business
