Session Prorogued
ISLAMABAD, June 28, 2014: The Balochistan Assembly passed four legislative bills on Saturday during seventh sitting of 12th session, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet.
The House gave its approval to the Balochistan Judicial Academy (Amendment) Bill 2014, the Balochistan Chief Minister and Provincial Minister’s Salaries, Allowances and Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2014, the Balochistan Speaker and Deputy Speaker Salaries, Allowances and Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2014 and the Balochistan Members’ Salaries, Allowances and Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2014. These bills were tabled during the last sitting by the Provincial Minister for Services and General Administration.
The Advisor to Chief Minister on Finance presented the Supplementary Monitoring Report of National Finance Commission for the period from July 2012 to December 2012. The House also approved the formation of 18 standing committees.
The lawmakers offered condolence prayers for the departed soul of a lawmaker’s relative. The session was prorogued after the House transacted its business set for the day.
Following are some key observations of the proceedings:
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings
- The Balochistan Assembly met for an hour and 40 minutes.
- The sitting started at 1240 hours against the scheduled time of 1100 hours, witnessing a delay of an hour and 40 minutes.
- Thirty members were present at the start and a maximum 36 at end of the sitting.
- The Speaker chaired the entire sitting.
- The Chief Minister attended the entire sitting while the Leader of the Opposition was absent.
- The parliamentary leaders of PML, NP and ANP were present.
- One minority members were present during the sitting.
- Four members applied for leave.

- The House gave its approval to the Balochistan Judicial Academy (Amendment) Bill 2014, the Balochistan Chief Minister and Provincial Minister’s Salaries, Allowances and Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2014, the Balochistan Speaker and Deputy Speaker Salaries, Allowances and Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2014 and the Balochistan Members’ Salaries, Allowances and Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2014.
