ISLAMABAD, May 20, 2014: The Balochistan Assembly passed three bills and adopted one resolution during the 3rd sitting of its 10th session on Tuesday, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet.
Introduced by Provincial Minister for Tourism, the House passed three bills including Balochistan Tourist Guides Bill, 2014, Balochistan Travel Agencies Bill, 2014 and Balochistan Hotels and Restaurants Bill, 2014.
Tabled by 13 lawmakers of PkMAP, the House adopted a resolution urging the federal government to include all the names of Hajj applicants of the province in Government Hajj Scheme.
Following are some key observations of the proceedings:
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings
- The Balochistan Assembly met for an hour and 13 minutes.
- The sitting started at 1647 hours against the scheduled time of 1600 hours, witnessing a delay of 47 minutes.
- Forty members were present at the outset while 35 were there at the adjournment of the sitting. A maximum of 42 members were observed to be present at one point of the sitting.
- The Speaker chaired the sitting for 28 minutes while the remaining proceedings were chaired by the Deputy Speaker.
- The Chief Minister as well as the Leader of the Opposition attended the entire sitting.
- The parliamentary leaders of NP and PkMAP were present.
- Five members applied for leave.
- Two minority members were present during the sitting.
