ISLAMABAD, May 26, 2017: The Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization presented a copy of the Finance Bill 2017 in Senate on Friday, observes the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its daily Factsheet.
Following are some key observations of proceedings of first sitting of 263rd session:
Members’ Participation
- The Senate met for an hour and 44 minutes.
- The sitting started 50 minutes late against the scheduled time of 1800 hours.
- The Chairman chaired the entire sitting.
- The Leader of the House attended the sitting while the Leader of the Opposition was not present.
- Parliamentary leaders of PPPP, JI, PkMAP, NP and ANP attended the sitting.
- Forty members (39% of the total membership – 104) were present at the outset and 20 members (19%) at the end of the sitting.
- Two minority Senators attended the sitting.
Output
- Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization presented a copy of the Finance Bill, 2017 in the House containing the Annual Budget Statement.
- Minister for Finance also sought Senate recommendations, if any, to be forwarded to the National Assembly on the Finance Bill 2017.
Order and Institutionalization
- Eight lawmakers spoke on Points of Public Importance consuming 44 minutes of the proceeding.
Transparency
