ISLAMABAD, March 19, 2014: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly passed five bills on law and order, governance, social welfare, energy and health on Wednesday during sixth sitting of its ongoing 11th session, says Free and Fair Election Network in its Daily Factsheet.
The bills passed include the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Restriction of Rented Building Security Bill, 2014, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Private Partnership Bill, 2014, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalist Welfare Endowment Bill, 2014, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (Amendment) Bill, 2014 and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Medical Transplantation Regulatory Authority Bill, 2014.
The House gave its approval to the amendments moved by opposition lawmakers except those proposed in the bill related to Energy Development Organization.
The House also witnessed introduction of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sensitive and Vulnerable Establishments and Places Security Ordinance, 2014. A resolution moved by two QWP lawmakers to disapprove the ordinance was rejected by majority vote.
The members raised two points of order consuming four minutes of the proceedings.
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings:
- The KP Assembly met for three hours and 50 minutes.
- The sitting started at 1530 hours against the scheduled time of 1500 hours, witnessing a delay of half an hour.
- The Deputy Speaker chaired the entire sitting except for last twenty minutes presided over by the Speaker.
- The Chief Minister was present during entire sitting while the Leader of the Opposition was absent.
- The parliamentary leaders of AJIP, ANP, PPPP and QWP attended the proceedings.
- Sixty-one members were present at the outset, 71 at the adjournment while a maximum of 85 were there at a point of the sitting.
- Three minority members attended the sitting.
- Two members applied for leave.
Output
- The Assembly considered five government bills and passed them.
