ISLAMABAD, February 20, 2013: Starting an hour and 27 minutes, the 10th sitting of the ongoing Sindh Assembly’s session, which met for three hours and seven minutes, witnessed low attendance of members. Forty-two members were present at the outset, while 66 were there at the adjournment.
The House unanimously adopted two resolutions condemning the killing of innocent people in the recent bomb blast in Quetta.
The House witnessed a protest by opposition and treasury benches over the non-provision of MPA priority program funds by the Ministry of Finance.
The Chief Minister attended the session for 33 minutes.
Following are some key observations of the parliamentary business:
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings
- The Sindh Assembly met for three hours and seven minutes.
- The sitting started at 1127 hours against the scheduled starting time of 1000 hours, witnessing the delay of an hour and 27 minutes.
- The Speaker chaired the entire sitting.
- The Chief Minister attended the sitting for 33 minutes.
- The parliamentary leaders of PPPP, MQM, PMLF, NPP, PMLQ (F-B) and ANP were present.
- Forty-two members were present at the start while 66 were there at the time of adjournment. A maximum of 104 members were present at one point of sitting.
- Four minority members were present.
- One member applied for leave.
Representation and Responsiveness
- All five starred questions appearing on the agenda were taken up and responded to by the relevant minister. Additionally, 17 supplementary questions were asked.
Output
- The House unanimously adopted two resolutions condemning the killing of innocent people in the recent bomb blast in Quetta.
- Five Bills appearing on the agenda were not taken up by the House.
