ISLAMABAD, August 29, 2017: The National Assembly adopted a resolution on Tuesday to condole the death of PTI lawmaker Gulzar Khan, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet.
Following are key observations of the proceedings during first sitting of the 45th session:
Members’ Participation
- The National Assembly met for an hour and 18 minutes.
- The sitting started at 1539 hours against the scheduled time of 1500 hours.
- The Speaker presided over the entire sitting except for the last 20 minutes when a member of the Panel of Chairpersons presided over the proceedings.
- The Leader of the House (Prime Minister) attended the entire sitting.
- The Leader of the Opposition remained present for an hour and three minutes.
- As many as 121 (35%) lawmakers were present at the outset and 83 (24%) at the adjournment of the sitting.
- The parliamentary leaders of JI and APML attended the sitting.
- Six minority lawmakers were present.
Output
- The House adopted a supplementary resolution offering condolences over the sad demise of PTI lawmaker Gulzar Khan. As many as 22 lawmakers spoke on the resolution consuming an hour and seven minutes of the proceedings.
Representation and Responsiveness
- The House adopted a motion to suspend the regular business for tomorrow’s sitting to discuss the US President’s statement on Pakistan.
