ISLAMABAD, August 13, 2018: The newly-elected Members of the 15th National Assembly took oath on Monday in a maiden session called after July 25 General Elections 2018, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in Daily Factsheet.
The Speaker of the outgoing Assembly presided over the proceedings that started 15 minutes behind the schedule. Taking oath as a member himself, the Speaker also administered oath to the newly-elected Members.
As many as 325 members took oath in the first sitting that continued for three hours and eight minutes. One of the PML-N lawmaker attended the sitting but did not take oath. The oath-taking was followed by the signing of “Roll of Members”. The Speaker also informed the House about the procedure for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, which will be held on August 15 (Wednesday).

Members’ Participation
- The National Assembly met for three hours and eight minutes.
- The sitting started at 1015 hours against the scheduled time of 1000 hours.
- The Speaker presided over the entire sitting.
- As many as 314 (92%) lawmakers were present at the outset and 197 (58%) at the adjournment of the sitting.
Transparency
- ‘Orders of the Day’ was available to the legislators, observers and public.
