1 | This House expresses its profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former Senator Col. (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, a distinguished politician, columnist, a veteran Pakistan Army Officer and a seasoned Parliamentarian, who passed away on 9th July, 2022. Senator Col. (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi was elected as the Member of Senate of Pakistan from Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) against General seat from Sindh for two terms i.e. from 2006 to 2012 & again from 2012 to 2018. In his first term he served as the Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reforms and in the second term Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges. He remained a very active Member of various Senate Committees and also brought numerous bills in the House. Earlier to this he played an active role at the local government level in Sindh and was elected as Vice Chairman, District East Karachi from 1994 to 1996 and Town Nazim of Jamshed Town, Karachi, in 2005. He had served in Pakistan Army as a Commissioned Officer from 1967 to 1992. The services rendered by him would long be remembered. The loss will be deeply mourned. We all share the loss sustained by his family and friends.This House expresses its deepest sympathies with the bereaved family.
