Resolution
Sitting No. | Resolution | Type of Resolution | Status |
1 | Cognizant of the horrific Greece Migrant Boat Disaster leaving hundreds of innocent Pakistani youth die and others displaced in the tragedy; Mindful of the fact that one of the potential factors behind such human tragedy is the ignorance of common masses who fall an easy prey to local operators and their agents to send their youth abroad through illegal means; 5 The Senate of Pakistan, therefore, recommends that the government should immediately launch a country wide awareness campaign by using all available communication channels to educate the poor masses about hazards of illegal human trafficking/smuggling abroad and ways to detect/identify and report the local human smugglers under the guise of local operators/ travel agents especially working in rural and backward areas of the country | Private | Adopted |
1 | Recognizing the importance of commemorating World Population Day on 11th July each year, as designated by the United Nations to highlight the significance of population issues; Acknowledging that the theme for World Population Day 2023 of Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our worlds infinite possibilities, is particularly relevant for Pakistan and other developing countries where there is an urgent need to prioritize the rights, well-being and empowerment of women and girls; Showing concern that as the worlds fifth most populous country, Pakistans population is projected to reach 403 million by 2050 which is expected to contribute to challenges such as poverty and unemployment, food scarcity and water crisis, housing shortages, healthcare access and human capital development, depletion of natural resources and environmental degradation; Observing that the population rise is inextricably linked with womens reproductive health and well-being and often driven by a lack of reproductive rights for women, lack of birth control awareness, child marriages, limited access to education and low female workforce participation; Acknowledging that by effectively managing the population and empowering women with reproductive rights, Pakistan can unlock the potential of its human capital, improve social indicators and build a prosperous and equitable society; The Senate of Pakistan, therefore, urges upon the Government to engage in multi-sectoral collaboration, involving all Governmental agencies including Provincial Governments, civil society organizations and relevant stakeholders to work collectively towards achieving sustainable population growth and gender equality | Private | Debated |
8 | The Senate of Pakistan recommends that the name of present District Upper Waziristan in Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa be Changed to District Mahsud | Private | Adopted |
8 | The Senate of Pakistan recalls 5th August 2019, as a Black Day when BJP led Government, abrogated Articles 35-A and 370 of Indias Constitution and took away the autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir and divided the state into two Union territories; The House rejects Indias illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 which are in direct violation of UNSC Resolutions and are aimed at changing the demographic structure of Indian Occupied Kashmir, suppressing the realization of the inalienable right to selfdetermination of the Kashmiris as well as violating their civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights; The House expresses deep concern over the additional draconian human rights violations being committed by the Indian Government further increasing the impunity of Indian occupation forces, resulting in egregious violations of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms of the Kashmiri people in IOJK; The House reaffirms the principles and objectives of the UN Charter regarding the sanctity of the universal realization of the right of peoples to self- determination and recalling the numerous unimplemented UN Security Council Resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir dispute which declare that the final disposition of the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be made in accordance with the will of the people; The House strongly deplores the state sponsored terrorism and crimes against humanity by Indian occupation forces against people of IOJK; The House acknowledges the efforts of the international human rights organizations, international media, international parliamentary fora especially European Parliament for expressing concerns over the gross human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir; The House Calls upon the international community to support the freedom struggles of the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir both morally, legally and materially as the international community supporting Ukraine morally and materially in the current Russian Ukraine war; This House recommends that the Government should expedite its diplomatic efforts to continuously highlight the Kashmir issue at the UN Human Rights Council, including through periodical brief and joint letters to the President of the Human Rights Council and all international Human Rights bodies about the evolving developments in Indian Occupied Kashmir | Private | Adopted |
8 | Cognizant of the fact that Gwadar is not only the emerging port city of the country but also the gateway to landmark CPEC project; Observing that development of Gwadar on sound lines has been a longtime dream of the people of Balochistan and projects such as the deep sea port, road connectivity and the soon to be completed international airport are gradually turning this dream into reality; Noting that over the years Gwadar has become a household name and gained international recognition to the extent that Gwadar and CPEC have become synonymous; The Senate of Pakistan, therefore, recommends that the new international airport in the port city shall be named as Gwadar International Airport which will not only be befitting as an international identity of Gwadar city and its people but will also synchronize well with all the development scenarios associated with Gwadar and would add to the commercial marketability of the new airport | Private | Withdrawn |
9 | The House urges the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold general elections across the country within the timeframegiven under Article 224 of the Constitution and asks the state institution to assist the ECP in holding the elections. | Private | Adopted |
9 | Karoonjhar Mountains in Tharparkar may be declared as National Heritage to save this historical Natural, religious and cultural site of Pakistan" Karoonjhar was the place where last battle was fought between Brithis and locals. The son of soil Ruploo Kolhi was arrested from Karoonjhar and was hanged in the base of Karoonghar near Bhatyani River. So Karonjhar is a civilization and symbol of existence for local indigenous communities, their cultural rituals, customs, traditions, folklores, songs, tales and thousands of years religious harmony. Karoonjhar Mountain range is equally sacred for Hindu community as Ganga or Sindhu and millions of Hindus from all parts of Pakistan annually come to Sardharo Dham situated in the base of Karoonjhar. This mountain is source of income for local people in the times of rain when thousands of tourists across the country come to visits the place. Sindh Government spent several million rupees for construction of Dams at the base of Karoonjhar. Rain water from Karoonjhar hills drops into these dams which now became the source of drinking for peoples, Animals and Birds as well as used for Agriculture purpose. Karoonjhar is now under threat because of corporations, using legal & illegal ways of cutting rapidly to sell the precious stones of the mountain. We demand "Karoonjhar" must be declared World Heritage site so that thousands years old culture and existence of life can be saved & preserved for today & future generations to come. Destroying Karoonjhar means destroying the eco system of not only Nangar Parkar but the world. Such attempts will continue till Karoonjhar not declared as National Heritage and National Park for wild life. | Private | Adopted |
