Emphasizes the importance of continued and sustained efforts to remove barriers and obstacles that hinder the realization of women’s full potential. Calls upon governments, the private sector, and families to invest more in women and girls, enabling them to make even greater contributions to progress and development. Therefore, be it resolved that the National Assembly of Pakistan Recognizes the importance of International Women’s Day in fostering gender equality, commemorating women’s accomplishments, and advocating for women’s rights. Expresses appreciation and Pays Tributes to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for her extraordinary leadership, bravery and commitment to advancing women’s empowerment. Pledges to uphold her legacy by championing policies that empower women, ensure equitable opportunities, and eradicate gender-based discrimination. Encourages all citizens to actively engage in building a more inclusive and just society. Strongly Condemns the growing incidences of violence and harassment against women in general and women politicians in particular. 6 | This House recognizes that the trial and subsequent conviction of Shaheed Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a gross miscarriage of justice; Salutes the struggles of Begum Nustrat Bhutto Sahiba, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, and the Pakistan Peoples Party workers who sacrificed their lives to establish this truth; Appreciates the determination with which President Asif Ali Zardari filed presidential reference to reopen the case 12 years ago and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who single mindedly pursued it; Lauds the honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan for finally holding and accepting the glaring injustice meted out to Shaheed Bhutto 44 years ago, in its judgment; The proceedings of the trial by the Lahore High Court and of the appeal by the Supreme Court of Pakistan do not meet the requirements of the Fundamental Right to a fair trial and due process enshrined in Articles 4 and 9 of the Constitution and later guaranteed as a separate and independent Fundamental Right under Article 10A of the Constitution;” Demands that in light of this historic judgment, the unjust verdict given in Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case must be overturned; Further demands that the Federal Government officially declare Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as a “Shaheed” and “National Democratic Hero,” and confers upon him the highest Civil Award which is the “Nishan-e-Pakistan”.
