1	This House expresses its profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former Senator Justice (R) Javed Iqbal. Great son of a great father, Justice (R) Javed Iqbal was born on 5th October, 1924 in Sialkot in the house of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.He received Ph.D. degree in Philosophy in 1954 from the University of Cambridge and Barrister-at-Law, from Lincoln's Inn, London, in 1956. He received honorary doctorates from various universities including Villanova University, USA, and Selcuk University. He authored various books on Pakistan's nationalism, movement and political ideology. He published papers on Islamic political thought, political ideology in Pakistan and the philosophy of his great father, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, which were published in national and international journals. During 1960–62 and in 1977, he was the delegate of Pakistan to the United Nations General Assembly. He began his career as an advocate in the Lahore High Court, later became Chief Justice of Lahore High Court from March, 1982 till October, 1986 and remained a senior judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.He was elected as Member, Senate of Pakistan in 1994 till 1999. Late Dr. Javed Iqbal made useful contributions to the discussions in the Senate over national and regional issues. Services rendered by him would be long remembered and his loss will be deeply mourned. While sharing the loss sustained by his family members and friends, this House expresses its deepest sympathies with the bereaved family. We pray to Almighty Allah to shower His infinite blessings and may his soul rest in eternal peace (Ameen).	Government	Adopted

The Senate of Pakistan welcome this timely diplomatic initiative of the Government of Pakistan to resume dialogue with India on the basis of honor, dignity and reciprocity, given the deadlock in Pakistan India relation caused by the intransigent behavior of the Indian Government. The Senate welcomes this constructive approach of Pakistan Government as it presents a wayout of the current deadlock and it can form the basis for not just the resumption of peace talks between India and Pakistan as well as a durable peace process based on a just and democratic resolution of the long standing dispute of Jumu and Kashmir according to the UN resolutions. The Senate hopes that India will reconsider its negative attitude and reciprocate Pakistan initiative in a meaningful manner so, that bilateral talks can resume for the greater good of peace, stability and prosperity of the region. 1	The Senate of Pakistan warmly welcomes the raising, for the first time, of the flag of Palestine at the United Nations Headquarters. This is a great political and diplomatic victory of the people of Palestine and all those who have supported this just cause. The people of Palestine have been struggling since 1947 for their inalienable rights which have been willfully denied by Israeli occupation. As Pakistan has been in the forefront of supporting the cause of the Palestinian people throughout the past decades, the Senate of Pakistan, reflecting the popular sentiments of the people of Pakistan, warmly welcomes this historic development.
