ISLAMABAD, March 13, 2014: The government laid six bills in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday during second sitting of its ongoing 11th session, says Free and Fair Election Network in its Daily Factsheet.
A PTI lawmaker introduced all the six bills, including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Medical Transplantation Regulatory Authority Bill, 2014, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Surrender of Illicit Arms Bill, 2014, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Private Partnership Bill, 2014, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalists Welfare Endowment Fund Bill, 2014, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa River Protection Bill, 2014 and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (Amendment) Bill, 2014.
No question hour was held as Thursday was private members’ day.
A bill titled KP Tibb and Homeopathic Employees Regularization of Services Bill, 2014, that was to be considered for passage, lapsed due to the absence of mover.
The House took up a calling attention notice (CAN) regarding acquisition of a land for housing colony against the will of locals. Another CAN lapsed due to the absence of mover.
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings:
- The KP Assembly met for 36 minutes.
- The sitting started at 1520 hours against the scheduled time of 1500 hours, witnessing a delay of 20 minutes.
- The Speaker chaired the entire sitting while the Deputy Speaker was also present.
- The Chief Minister was present for five minutes while the Leader of the Opposition was absent.
- Only the parliamentary leaders of QWP attended the proceedings.
- Thirty-six members were present at the outset while a maximum of 53 were there at the adjournment of the sitting.
- Three minority members attended the sitting.
- Five members applied for leave.
