ISLAMABAD, November 25, 2021: The Balochistan Assembly took up entire agenda and adopted two resolutions on Thursday, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its daily factsheet.
Following are key observations of the proceedings during third sitting of the 47th session:
Members’ Participation
- The House met for an hour and 22 minutes.
- The sitting started at 04:47 pm against the scheduled time of 03:00 pm.
- The deputy speaker presided over the entire sitting in the absence of speaker.
- The leader of the house did not attend the sitting.
- The leader of the opposition was present during the entire proceedings.
- As many as four (6%) lawmakers were present at the outset and 15 (23%) at the adjournment of the sitting.
- The parliamentary leaders of JWP, PNP, MMAP, PkMAP, BNP-M and HDP attended the sitting.
- Two minority lawmakers were present.
Output
- The House adopted two separate resolutions recommending the federal government to enhance budget of PTV Bolan and introduce programs in `Hazargi’ language on same channel. Seven lawmakers spoke on these resolutions for 25 minutes.
Representation and Responsiveness
- The House took up all six starred questions during the question hour while lawmakers asked five supplementary questions as well.
- Minister for health responded to a calling attention notice regarding closure of Balochistan Nutrition Program for Mothers and Children.
Order and Institutionalization
- Nine lawmakers spoke on points of order for 28 minutes.
- The House was adjourned to meet again on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 03:00 pm.
Transparency
- ‘Orders of the Day’ was available to the legislators, observers and others.
- The attendance of lawmakers was not available to the observers and media.
