Islamabad, December 21, 2017: The National Assembly could not address its scheduled business during 50th session that ended on December 21, 2017. The eleven-sitting session had five government bills and heavy Private Members’ business on the agenda. Four government bills were passed while one was referred to the relevant committee. However, the House did not take up any agenda item except one Calling Attention Notice appearing on the Private Members’ day. The Question-Hour was also held only in three sittings during the entire session.

ISLAMABAD, June 15, 2017: The National Assembly passed the Federal Budget for the Financial Year 2017-18 during its 43rd session that spanned over 15 sittings. It was the fifth budget of the ruling party during the term of 14th National Assembly that was debated and passed amidst opposition’s boycott.

ISLAMABAD, May 18, 2017: National Assembly’s 42nd session addressed its three quarters agenda approving nine legislative proposals and handing over 21 others to the relevant standing committees for review and recommendations. The legislation sent to the committees included a Constitutional Amendment to allocate 23 seats to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

ISLAMABAD:  The 41st session of the National Assembly was marked by low interest and thin attendance of lawmakers as the House witnessed multiple walk-outs, and protests by opposition parties against the Prime Minister in the wake of Supreme Court’s verdict on Panama Papers’ scandal.

ISLAMABAD, March 25, 2017: The National Assembly approved the amendments in the Constitution as well as the Pakistan Army Act paving the way for revival of military courts during its 40th session that spanned over 13 sittings. The Assembly also legislated on registration of Hindu marriages, regulation and facilitation of public private partnership, setting up commissions of inquiry and amendments to the Post Office Act.
