ISLAMABAD, March 4, 2024: The Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) convened on Monday for the first sitting of the second session, for the approval of the motion for grants.
The following are key observations of the sitting:
• The House approved the motion moved by the Chief Minister, as per rule 150 of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules, 1988, for granting 159 billion rupees for non-charged expenditures between March 1 to March 31, 2024, within the Financial Year 2023-24. The House also reviewed the scheduled authorized expenditure for the same period, which received approval.
• The House approved the motion proposed by the Chief Minister to utilize the assembly hall for the elections of the President to be held on March 9, 2024.
• As many as two members spoke on points of order (POs) for six minutes. The Speaker constituted the committee on petitions as per rule 116 of the KP Assembly.
• The Leader of the House and Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Ibadullah Khan) were present throughout the session.
• The sitting commenced an hour and 25 minutes later than the scheduled time and lasted 26 minutes. Moreover, 80 members were present at the onset, with the attendance reaching 90 by the end of the sitting.
• The session was prorogued sine die.
