A business administrator, Waqar Ahmed Khan, represents PPPP on a general seat in the Upper House. He was elected to the Senate for the first time in 1994 as the youngest ever member for a term of six years. He won the seat by an overwhelming majority, securing the largest number of electoral votes from the KP assembly. Khan hails from a political family and is the son of Senator Gulzar Ahmed Khan, a renowned political personality of Pakistan. The latter held key federal ministries in the government and also served as the Special Assistant for Provincial Coordination to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Both father and son made history when Senator Gulzar Ahmed Khan (father) and Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan (son) became members of the Senate simultaneously in 2003. Another unique example was set by the family when the younger brother of Senator Khan, Ammar Khan, was elected as a Senator from KP in March 2006 to join his father and brother in the Upper House of the Parliament. His uncle Mukhtar Ahmed Khan was elected to the Upper House and his mother Mrs. Razia Sultana served as a member of the Lower House (National Assembly) of Pakistan. At the moment he has been appointed as a member of the Standing Committees on Railways, Inter-Provincial Coordination, Industries and Production, and Planning and Development. Committee's Member
