Jam Kamal Khan belongs to the Lasbela House of Royal, famous Jam family of Lasbela and 13th Jam of Lasbela. He is State Minister for Petroleum & Natural Resources in the cabinet of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and has also served as District Nazim. He joined PML-N after winning from NA-270 as an independent candidate. Mr. Jam Kamal Khan son of Jam Muhammad Yousaf Khan contested general elections held on May 11, 2013 as an independent candidate and defeating Ghulam Akbar Lasi of PPPP. This seat was previously held by his father former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Jam Muhammad Yousaf Khan who passed away on Feb 03, 2013. He contested on PB-44 and PB-45 as an Independent candidate in election 2013. He won the seat in PB-44 but was defeated in PB-45.
