ISLAMABAD, November 12, 2021: The Senate took up 89 percent agenda on Friday and adopted a resolution to condole the death of a former lawmaker Syed Iftikhar Bukhari, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in the Daily Factsheet.
Following are key observations of the proceedings during the fourth sitting of 315th session:
Members’ Participation
- The Senate met for two hours and seven minutes.
- The sitting started at the scheduled time of 10:30 am.
- The chairman presided over the entire proceedings.
- The deputy chairman was also present.
- The leader of the house attended the entire sitting.
- The leader of the opposition attended the sitting for two hours and three minutes.
- As many as 21 lawmakers (22%) were present at the outset and 26 (61%) at the adjournment of sitting.
- The parliamentary leaders of PkMAP, JI, PML-N, PML-F, BAP, PPPP, PML, PTI and ANP attended the sitting.
- Three minority lawmaker were present.
Output
- The House adopted a supplementary resolution to condole death of former senator Syed Iftikhar Ali Bukhari. The resolution was tabled by the leader of the house.
- Four ordinances were laid in the House which included the Public Properties (Removal of Encroachment) Ordinance, 2021; the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021; the Public Private Partnership Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021 and the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021.
- Minister of state for parliamentary affairs presented the Federal Public Service Commission’s Annual Reports for the years 2018 and 2019.
Representation and Responsiveness
- The House took up 10 out of 14 starred questions while lawmakers asked 23supplementary questions.
- The House took up two calling attention notices (CANs) about ongoing crisis in the gas supply to consumers non-setting up of special desks for senior citizens at airports across the country. These CANs were responded to by the ministers for energy and aviation division respectively.
- A motion of thanks to the President for his address to Parliament on September 13, 2021 was not taken up
- Seven lawmakers spoke on points of public importance for 22 minutes.

- The House was adjourned to meet again on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 04:00 pm.
